Fall Sports

*Must be a member of St. Brendan Parish or student at St. Brendan School to participate in ALL St. Brendan sponsored athletics.*

Grades 3-8 Cheerleading  (Cost $60)

  • Must be a parishioner or attend St Brendan School.
  • There are no tryouts.
  • Squads will meet twice a week. (Two practices per week before games begin. When games begin, squads will have 1 practice a week and then cheer at the game.)
  • Season consists of 8 games played on Sundays beginning in early September and concluding the first weekend in November (tournament games).
  • Cheerleaders are cheering at the 4th-8th grade St. Brendan boys games, which are played at various Columbus Diocese high schools.
  • Uniforms (skirt, vest, turtleneck, pom-poms, and hair bow) are on loan by SBAA.
  • Parents need to provide spankies and shoes.

Grades 4-8 Boys Football  (Cost $150)

  • Must be a parishioner, attend St Brendan School or be from a parish without a football team.
  • Our goal is to have enough participation to field separate 4th, 5th, and 6th grade teams as well as a combined 7/8th grade team, however combining across grades is common in the diocese.
  • All coaches are USA Football “Heads Up” certified.
  • Boys receive all equipment including: Helmet, mouthpiece, chinstrap, shoulder pads, game jersey, practice jersey, girdle pads, game pants, and practice pants with thigh and knee pads.  The only equipment provided by the family are non-metal cleats (football, soccer, baseball, etc. are perfectly acceptable).
  • Practices are 2 to 4 times a week (depending on age), 1 hour and 45 minutes long, at St. Brendan’s fields.
  • Games are usually played Sundays at various fields throughout the diocese’s facilities.
  • Diocese rules provide weight restrictions for certain positions, but all boys are able to play.
  • 6 regular season games for 5-8th grade with a post season playoff for a maximum of 8 games.  4th grade plays 7 regular season games without a playoff.
  • Practices start around August 7th, games begin around September 17th, and the last possible game will be November 5th.

Grades 4-6 Girls Volleyball  (Cost $115)
Grades 7-8 Girls Volleyball  (Cost $125)

  • Must be a parishioner, attend St Brendan School or be from a parish without a girls volleyball team.
  • A recreational and competitve league played against other parishes.
  • Teams formed based on number of signups per grade.
  • 7th & 8th Grade JV & Varsity teams typically have 1 competitive and 1 recreational team, depending on signups.
  • Try-outs for competitive JV & Varisty teams for girls entering 7th & 8th grade will be for 3 days during the week before school. Exact dates/times will be announced to parents after sign-ups.
  • Practice for the fall season for girls entering 7th & 8th grade will begin August 5th.
  • All other teams will begin practicing the week before school starts.
  • Regular season games are played on the weekends; 90 min practices are held 2 times per week.
  • Season ends with single-elimination tournament.

Grades 6-8 Co-ed Golf (Cost $110)

  • Must be a parishioner or attend St Brendan School.
  • There are no tryouts. Any level is welcome.
  • Team will meet twice a week at Sports Ohio in Dublin for practice starting in July.  (Two practices per week before matches begin, Once matches begin, the team will not practice).
  • Players will be responsible for greens fees/driving range balls fees for practices (we’re working on a Team discount).
  • Season consists of 10+ matches played during the week from August 8th through September 18th.  No weekend matches.
  • End of the year tournament will take place on September 23rd at Mental Memorial with a 1:00pm shot-gun start.
  • Players will choose which matches they wish to attend at least 5 days in advance. There is no maximum or minimum requirement.
  • Players will be responsible for greens fees ranging between $10-12 for each match they opt to play in.
  • Matches will take place at Wilson Road Golf Course, Airport Golf Course & Raymond Memorial Golf Course.
  • We will provide a team polo and a team hat or visor to each player.
  • Parents will need to provide clubs, a bag (lighter the better for this age), golf balls, tees, any type of solid court shoe or golf spikes, and khaki shorts or a white golf skirt option for girls if they prefer.
