As winter
approaches, we want to remind everyone of the
Emergency/Weather cancellation policy for students of MFF. If St. Brendan School
is closed on a Monday the MFF class for that night will be cancelled. If the
school closes during the school day, the same will hold true. MFF will be closed
for that night. If the snow accumulates during the day toward evening, please
call 876-9533 & press "1" for our Information box. We will also have St.
Brendan Faith Formation Classes listed with the local TV stations' closing
reports.
Growth in faith is a lifetime journey which occurs within a community
and is guided by the Holy Spirit. You,
the family, are the primary community in which faith is shared, nurtured,
explored and exampled. Children need to
be supported and affirmed in living out their faith and must be provided with
the tools to make difficult age-appropriate moral decisions, to act justly
toward all, and to witness to their beliefs in word and deed.
Our Faith Formation Program is designed to assist parents in developing a faith
that is alive and active in the world today.
Faith formation opportunities are available to all members of our
parish, as well as those wishing to learn more about our Catholic faith. Faith Formation classes are available
starting with three years old and continues through eighth grade. A youth ministry program is available for
high school students. St. Brendan's
parish missions and bible study groups offer a spiritual growth opportunity for
adult members of the parish.
Faith Formation Catechists, Aides and Volunteers:
The Faith Formation Department could not function without the hard work and
dedication of many volunteers whose job titles are listed below:
Catechists and Aides:
All catechists (teachers) and aides in the classroom are volunteers. Presently,
they receive a 25% reduction in tuition fee by their volunteer efforts. Many of the catechists are presently
certified or are being certified under diocesan guidelines. The Faith Formation
Department provides in-services and training for all catechists and aides.
Volunteers: In
addition to full-time catechists and aides, the department needs volunteer help
in other capacities such as hall monitors, door monitors, office workers,
providing child care during class time for catechists and aides, and with
"at home" projects.
Presently, they receive a 10% reduction in their tuition fee for their
volunteer service. We are always
looking for people with special talents (art, music, etc.) that can assist us
in our program. Contact our office to volunteer your services.
All Catechist & Volunteers will need to attend and do the following
at least two weeks BEFORE working with our children:
Protecting God's Children Seminar: Protecting God's Children is a wonderful program
that empowers us as a community to protect our Children! Protecting God's Children Seminars are held
throughout the Diocese. You will need to register on line on the www.virtus.org website. The instructions
can also be accessed through the link above.
BCI/Fingerprinting:
Background Checks/Fingerprinting locations can be found on the Attorney
General's website through the link above. The fees are tax deductible. Please
be sure that the location mails the results directly to St. Brendan parish
office.
Anyone interested in sharing your faith with the young people of our
parish should contact the Faith Formation Office (876-9533) or complete the
Catechist/Aide, Substitute Catechist/Aide or Volunteer Sign-Up Form at the top
