In July of 1993 Father
William Maroon returned to Saint Brendan's to be its pastor for a second
time. A fundraising drive was organized to expand the church and school
and to build a new rectory.
Between 1994 and 1996, the church, which seated
650 people, was expanded to seat 1088; the school added a multipurpose
room/gym combination, computer lab and ten new classrooms; a spacious
rectory providing quarters for three priests was completed and the building
which once was home to the clergy then was transformed into much needed
office space. The cost of the completed projects was 3.1 million dollars.
All of this materialized because of the faith and generosity of the Parish
Family and the support of our Bishop, James A. Griffin.
The Parish Family
continues to reduce this debt as part of its commitment to the Church.
We continue to be a vital part of the enormous growth still taking place in the Hilliard, Columbus,
and Dublin areas. With that continued growth, we found ourselves in need of
further expansion to continue to serve our parishioners. With the help of the
diocesan Challenge in Changing Times endowment program our
parish was able to commit over $800,000 in pledges to be used to expand
the cafeteria, add two more specialty classrooms, provide handicapped access
the Wellnitz Hall, add a new Parish Library, and maintain our parking lot.
These improvements are underway at this printing.
With over 3,200 families in our parish family, St. Brendan Parish continues
to be an important part of the growth of Catholism in the Diocese of Columbus.
