Eucharist
First Eucharist
Children
Children in the second grade attending
the parish religious education program or St. Brendan school are
prepared during the catechetical year to receive First Communion.
In addition to the classes, parents and children attend one meeting
in the fall for catechesis on the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
The child may receive Eucharist for the first time during one of two
Solemn celebrations that are traditionally held the first Saturday
and Sunday of May at 3:00 p.m. or during a Family Liturgy. Families
who choose a Family Liturgy may select any of the regularly scheduled
Saturday 5:30 p.m. Masses or Sunday liturgies starting with the
first Saturday after Easter and Ending in May.
Older
children will be prepared for the sacrament separately. A twelve week
course will be offered during the catechetical year in order to
prepare the child or teen for the Sacrament of Eucharist. Please
contact the Religious Education Office (614-876-9533) for more information.
